Things are happening in Oil Country.  This past Monday the Edmonton Oilers announced the appointing of Bob Nicholson as CEO of the Oilers Entertainment Group.  In the press conference that followed Nicholson announced that in his new position everyone in the organization would be reporting to him.  He also mentioned that he’d be rolling out his plan for the direction if the team in short order.

Little did we all realize how quick he’d get that ball rolling.  Yesterday it was widely reported that former Bruins GM Peter Chiarelli was in town to meet with Oilers brass.  TSN1260’s Jason Gregor reported on his show this afternoon that the Oilers would be holding a press conference tomorrow to announce the hiring of Chiarelli.  The title hasn’t been confirmed but speculation has him replacing Kevin Lowe as President of Hockey Operations.

This should be an exciting summer for a fan base that has long been without anything of relevance to cheer for.
