Hamilton Bulldogs 4 Niagara Icedogs 3

Hamilton Bulldogs pulled off a stunning 4-3 win over the Niagara IceDogs at the Meridian Centre.

Offense

From another solid start to the thrilling end, the Hamilton Bulldogs offense played very effectively. Forward Michael Crammerosa continued his great run with an awesome breakaway goal. Fellow forward MacKenzie Entwistle also continued his great start to the campaign, and defenseman Benjamin Gleason also contributed to the cause. Forward Matt Luff got rid of his short goal draught with the game winning goal in the third period to win for the Bulldogs.

Despite the great job finding the net to shoot throughout the contest, Hamilton power play unit was still ineffective, especially on two consecutive 5-on-3 man advantages in the second period. Also, with the opportunities Bulldogs had several inside their attack zone, it could’ve been a lopsided game if it wasn’t for the great showing of goaltender Stephen Dhillion of Niagara.

The penalty kill was good, but surrendered back-to-back avoidable miscues in which it led to Niagara to tie the game in the second period. There was lack of disclipline in the second period, in which it led to the IceDogs making a game out of it. Faceoff battles need to be won more.

Defense/Goaltending

The Hamilton Bulldogs defense had a much better outing in this game. Aside from the PK unit lapsing in the second period, there were a lot more blocking shots, hits, and a much better fore-checking. Forced the Niagara IceDogs offense to sputter in many occasions, especially in the first period.

Bulldogs goalie Kaden Fultcher preserved a thrilling win, despite not being very busy until the third period. Another good outing, but at times a tad shaky in the second period.

With the victory, Hamilton improves to 4-1, all alone in the top of the Eastern Division as week two of the Ontario Hockey League regular season concludes for the Bulldogs. The team heads back home to play the Guelph Storm in their only game on Canadian thanksgiving weekend.
