Canadians Handed First Loss

Steen Cooper tied the game early in the second period and set up Connor Chartier for the game-winner five minutes into the third as the Penticton Vees squeaked out a 4-3 victory over the Carleton Place Canadians on Tuesday afternoon.  Both teams now sit with 2-1-0 records, clinching them births in the Semi Finals.

The Canadians received goals from Adam Lloyd, Andy Sturtz, and Stephen Baylis while goaltender Guillaume Therien finished with 25 saves on 29 shots in the losing effort.

Cam Amantea and Riley Alferd also had goals for Penticton while Hunter Miska made 15 saves as he helped lead his club to victory.

The Canadians are next in action Wednesday May 13th as they take on the SJHL’s Melfort Mustangs at 8pm.

In Other Action

The Soo Thunderbirds (0-3-0) continue to struggle in the tournament as they fell 7-2 to the Portage Terriers who improved to 2-1-0 putting them in a three-way tie with Carleton Place and Penticton.
