The 19-year-old Mississauga Ontario native is in his first season with the CCHL’s Brockville Braves where he is leading the club in almost all offensive categories. Listed at 5-9, and 175 lbs, Folkes isn’t the biggest guy on the ice but he doesn’t let that stop him from being a difference maker on a consistent basis. He doesn’t shy away from going to the difficult areas and plays an in your face style while still offering dynamic offensive skill. He shows non-stop work ethic and the ability to be first to loose pucks.
Minor Hockey
Before reaching the junior level, Folkes suited up for the South Central Coyotes AAA program of the Eastern AAA Hockey League. During his 2013-14 season, he posted 26 goals and 61 points in just 32 games.
CCHL Career
In just his first season of junior hockey, Folkes is showing just how important the past couple years of AAA hockey have helped his development. His 36 goals ties him with captain Sean King while his 6 GWG and 71 points are both team bests. He also finds himself 2nd overall in CCHL goals scored while sitting 5th overall in points. As Brockville pushes towards the playoffs, he will be a main contributor to their postseason success.
College Bound
On November 7th, 2014, Folkes committed to NCAA Division I Clarkson University where he will suit up for the 2015-16 season. He is one of five current Braves to have committed to the NCAA (King, Peski, Weiss, Israel) being the other four.
